MegaFEAST Orlando

This year, United MegaCARE hit the ground running and hosted a community-wide food giveaway in Atlanta, Georgia, and distributed approximately 2,536 meal boxes at our “MegaFEAST Atlanta” food distribution on MLK Day in partnership with The T.D. Jakes Foundation and Atlanta Housing. Over 100+ volunteers served, and 15,216 individuals were impacted.

In Orlando, Florida, to kick off ILS, United MegaCare hosted another community-wide food distribution, “MegaFEAST Orlando” in partnership with The Kingdom Church International and Wells Fargo. We distributed 1,500 meal boxes and impacted 9,000 individuals through our efforts. In addition, we had over 150 volunteers who served alongside us in Orlando, who consisted of ILS attendees, GPS partners, Wells Fargo, T.D. Jakes Foundation, Distinctively Debs, and The Kingdom Church International. We were also excited to have our very own First Lady, Mrs. Serita Jakes, come out and serve all day with us at our food distribution in Orlando.

“A Mile in My Shoes”: Transforming Lives Through Community Outreach

At United MegaCare, we believe in the power of community to bring about real change. One of our flagship outreach initiatives, “A Mile in My Shoes,” exemplifies this mission by providing essential support to individuals experiencing homelessness. This event acts as a “one-stop shop,” offering critical resources such as housing, food, clothing, healthcare, job assistance, and more—all in one place. Our goal is not only to meet immediate needs but also to help build long-term solutions and foster hope for a brighter future.

The most recent “A Mile in My Shoes” event took place on Saturday, August 31, and it was an incredible success, thanks to the collective efforts of our volunteers, sponsors, and community partners. Here are some remarkable stats from the event:

With over 150 dedicated volunteers serving as greeters, hosts, and station operators, the event truly came to life. Each volunteer worked with passion and excellence, ensuring that every attendee received not just the services they needed but also a sense of dignity and care. The atmosphere was filled with compassion, as our volunteers made sure each individual felt valued and supported.

This event was about more than just meeting basic needs—it was about restoring hope and creating connections. For many of our unhoused friends, “A Mile in My Shoes” offered a lifeline of support, from essential medical and dental care to something as simple as a haircut or a warm shower. The impact went beyond tangible services, with 15 individuals securing immediate housing bringing them one step closer to stability.

We are deeply grateful to the partners, vendors, and sponsors who made this event possible. Your generosity and dedication were essential to making this day a success. Whether you helped transport guests, donated services, or provided hands-on support, your contribution made a tangible difference in the lives of those in need.

As we look forward to future “A Mile in My Shoes” events, we want to extend our sincerest thanks to everyone involved. Together, we are transforming lives and spreading hope to those who need it most.
